| About the Coordinating Organziations | |

Friends of the Library (FOL) FOL raises funds through membership dues and annual or bi-annual book sales. Membership Form Donations of materials for the book sale are taken all year long through the library. The FOL provides refreshments, room setup, and speaker fees for Brown Bag Luncheons. Organization: Friends of the Library (FOL) is a membership based organization. Goals: To provide special programming and assist the library in offering quality services. Current Project: Window replacment for North side windows. Future Project: Exterior enhancements. Recent Projects: Refinishing and re-covering hardwood chairs within the building and re-covering comfortable reading chairs in the reading area. Recent Donations: Contributed $200 at the request of the Children's Librarian for new baby reading kits. Typical Meeting Time: 2nd Monday of the Month at 4:00 pm at the North Platte Public Library. Giving Options: Library Legacy Fund at Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation; FOL also maintains their own checking account to handle donations; We always need volunteers! North Platte Public Library (NPPL) Foundation North Platte Public Library (NPPL) Foundation is a fundraising based organization. NPPL Foundation raises funds through fundraising events. Organization: NPPL Foundation is organized as a Board of Directors overseeing event coordination. Goals: To raise funds for a future library facility. Current Events: Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament (January), Cemetery Tours (September), Basket Sales (Fall Holidays) Future Events: Cemetery Tour (June), Guided Group Downtown Walking Tours (during NEBRASKAland and on demand) Past Events: Mother's Day Fudge Sales, Gardens & Gables Typical Meeting Time: 2nd Thursday of the Month at 5:00 pm at the North Platte Public Library. This organization is lead by a board of directors. Giving Options: NPPL Foundation Fund is a capital fund at Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation; We always need event day volunteers! North Platte Genealogical Society (NGPS) North Platte Genealogical Society (NPGS) is a membership based organization. NPGS houses their genealogical collection of materials at the North Platte Public Library. Organization: NPGS is a membership based organization. Goals: To enhance, promote, and help others in the preservation of family history. Current Projects: Fundraising for an electronic directory at the North Platte City Cemetery; Organizing and digitizing their obituary collection. Future Projects: Undetermined at this time. Past Projects: Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) records index for the Stephen A. Douglas Post 69, North Platte, NE; Scott Abstract Probate Records index. Typical Meeting Time: 3rd Wednesday (September - November and January - May) at 7:00 pm at the North Platte Public Library. This organization is lead by a board of officers.
